President & Chief Executive Officer

Charles D. Umberger
Prior to joining Old Town Bank, Mr. Umberger served as President of Coconut Grove Bank and as Senior Lending Officer for Pointe Bank of Coral Gables. A native of Durham, Mr. Umberger is a graduate of Duke University and holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joins Senior Vice Presidents Lurissa Hendrix and Tommy Bourque as senior management of Old Town Bank. He brings 30 years of experience and knowledge in lending, credit, bank operations and general banking management that will help Old Town grow and develop into the leading banking organization in Haywood County.


Senior Lending Officer

Thomas J. Bourque - Senior Vice President
Mr. Bourque began his banking career in south Louisiana with a community bank, which was later purchased by Bank One. Working in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, he advanced through the ranks of commercial lending then returned to Houma to join Hibernia Bank. Later he was with The Bankers Bank in Nashville before coming to Waynesville with Carolina First as Area Executive. His years of experience in a broad range of commercial lending make Tommy an MVP in Old Town's senior management.


Chief Financial Officer

Jim Doyle - Senior Vice President
Mr. Doyle joins Old Town Bank with 22 years banking experience. After nine years with FDIC as a bank examiner, Mr. Doyle spent 13 years as Senior Vice President and CFO of a SEC registered bank and bank holding company in Georgia. Mr. Doyle joined Old Town Bank in August 2009 and is responsible for finance, accounting, and credit administration.


Human Resources Director

Lurissia Hendrix - Vice President
Ms. Hendrix is a native of Haywood County and has been a banker in the Waynesville market since 1994. She serves as Corporate Secretary and manages shareholder relations. In addition, Lurissia serves as Old Town Bank’s Human Resource Director.


Compliance / BSA / Security Officer / Information Security / ACH Officer and Training Coordinator

Dana L. Klinger - Vice President, CCBCO, CAMS
Ms. Klinger joined Old Town prior to the Bank's opening in September 2007. Previously, she had been with United Community Bank and First Citizens Bank in Waynesville. Ms. Klinger is charged with overseeing the Bank's compliance with Federal and State regulations as they pertain to deposits, loans, and privacy, among others. She also plays a key role in Training, Information Security and Management.


Electronic Banking / Information Technology / Marketing / Website

James E. Paul - Vice President
Mr. Paul joined Old Town Bank in January 2010 with a diversified banking background spanning more than 39 years. Jim is responsible for the Bank’s electronic banking, website, marketing, facilities and information technology. Following his service in the US Air Force, Jim began his banking career with American Express International Banking Corporation, Military Banking Division, in Frankfurt, Germany. After returning to the States, Jim held positions with several South Florida institutions including Southeast Bank, Jefferson National Bank and Coconut Grove Bank. During eight years at Coconut Grove Bank, Jim was the marketing director and managed the electronic banking department.


Residential Loan Officer

Jason Chambers - Assistant Vice President
Mr. Chambers is a native of Haywood County and holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from North Carolina State. He has worked in banking in the Asheville area since 1997, serving in a variety of capacities ranging from construction and commercial lending to mortgage and personal banking. His numerous years of experience in all facets of residential lending enables him to provide an array of home lending solutions for Old Town’s clients and he is committed to serving his hometown community.


Asheville Lending Officer

Lacy A. Cross - Assistant Vice President
Mr. Cross is Old Town Bank’s Asheville Lending officer. Prior to joining Old Town Bank, Lacy was a commercial banking officer for First Citizens Bank and Capital Bank in the Asheville MSA. Lacy graduated from UNCA in Monetary Finance and Economics and has been in banking ever since. He has spent the last 19 years working for community banks in the Asheville market along with a two year stint for United Community Bank in South Carolina. Anytime that Mr. Cross is not working for the bank he is leading or volunteering in Boy-Scouts, Upward Basketball, ABYSA Soccer, and sits on several community boards like President of RMA Great Smokies, Asheville Board of Realtors Finance Committee, and Commercial CID Committee.


Residential and Consumer Loan Administration Manager and ORE/Special Asset Administrator

Debra R. Mintz- Assistant Vice President
Ms. Mintz is no stranger to either the county or banking industry. A native of Haywood County, she began her banking career with HomeTrust Bank where she served in a variety of positions, most recently as their Loan Operations Manager. She brings to the bank extensive experience and knowledge of residential lending, secondary market operations, and loan administration. Debra serves as the bank’s ORE/Special Asset Administrator and, although neither an active buyer or seller agent, holds a NC Real Estate Broker license.



Dan Metcalf - Banking Officer
Mr. Metcalf is a Western North Carolina native with 25 years of varied accounting experience including 13 years as controller for a small regional bank based in Asheville.


Relationship Officer

Laura Tragesser - Assistant Vice President
Ms. Tragesser joined Old Town Bank in January 2015, bringing 13 years of local banking experience along with strong ties to Waynesville and Western North Carolina. Laura’s primary focus has always been serving her customers and supporting her community. Laura is charged with expanding and strengthening existing business relationships with the Bank as well as developing new ones. Other responsibilities include overseeing daily banking services in the branch. Laura is a Board Member of PlottFest, a benefit for Head Start, an Ambassador with the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Chamber’s Women in Business Committee.
